Spring

After snow and ice in December-January, then cold rain rain rain in February-March, we have had a touch of Spring.

The birds were singing, the sun was shining, the sky was blue, the Forsythia was in a blaze of golden blooming glory. And the daffodils, oh the daffodils.

Little baby green grasses were starting to peak through the brown barren wasteland of campus...so soothing to the soul to see the beauty grow up through the brambles.

Then...

a cold snap hit, bringing chilling wind and more rain.

Bleh.

It is easy to get annoyed with so much rain. The grime of muddy cars, puddly sidewalks, and wet shoes plus sloshy runs, humidity, and bad hair. It gets old fast.

Yet there are many blessings in the rain. I have much to be thankful for, such as my beloved and ever so trusty rainboots, a Christmas gift from my mama that turned out to be both practical and stylish. A rare feat I must say.

Remembering the purpose behind the rain always helps too, without it there would be no baby green grasses or daffodil blooms reaching through the soil up to the sun.

Thank you Lord for the renewal of Spring showers and the reminder of your life giving Presence.

So let us know,
let us press on to know the Lord.
His going forth is as certain as the dawn;
and He will come to us like the rain,
like the Spring rain watering the earth.
Hosea 6:3

He who rules over men righteously,
who rules in the fear of God,
is as the light of the morning when the sun rises,
a morning without clouds,
when the tender grass springs out of the earth,
through sunshine after rain.
2 Samuel 23: 3-4

Sing to the Lord with Thanksgiving;
Sing praises to our God,
Who covers the heavens with clouds,
Who provides rain for the earth,
Who makes grass to grow on the mountains.
Ps.147.7-8

The beasts of the field will glorify Me,
because I have given waters in the wilderness and rivers in the desert,
to give drink to my chosen people.
Isaiah 43:20
