On Friday, November 18th, I went to work like every other day. Then around 1PM, Josh and Shiner picked me up and it was the start of a grand adventure that would last through Saturday morning.
We dropped Shiner off at our friends house for safe keeping, then headed to the airport. Fourteen hours, two layovers, a shared order of Qdoba nachos, two movies, and three flights later, we landed in Wenatchee, WA around midnight local time, 3AM Louisville time.
Yipes!
After our crazy travel day, we were able to sleep in, relax, and enjoy the beautiful snow and mountain views in Wenatchee. Over the weekend, we helped my parents get ready to host Thanksgiving for our extended family. The to do list included several trips to Costco, seeing the local high school production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat (who knew Wenatchee High School could give those Glee kids a run for their money?), baking and baking and baking, eating tasty Mexican food and ritas and delicious Anjou creations (both a must!), baking some more (or maybe buying a pie from Costco), napping, reading, and the very important task of bottling the cider my dad had made.
After bottling, we had to sample the results. Day 1...not so hot, Day 2...a little better but pretty yeasty, Day 3? Hard cider perfection. Mmmmmm!
It was oh so good and quite a hit with family over the holiday weekend!
The rest of our week was full of fun, family, sweet time with Grandma, some trotting, and definitely a lot of turkey. Happy Thanksgiving!
