Day of Rest

My handsome husband and I took a much needed day off last Friday. It is a beautiful idea and I highly recommend it to everyone.

The hectic schedule of our fall had caught up to us. We were tired, overwhelmed, and needed a break from the daily grind.

We slept in past seven and spent a lazy morning playing with Shiner and relaxing. While I was showering and getting ready for our day together Josh snuck away and brought me a tiger spice chai latte (one of my favorite things) from our local coffee shop. I love him so much.

Then we were off, chai in hand, on our day's adventures. First stop, Gruene, TX. What better place is there to start a day of rest than a sleepy little town that has been "gently resisting change since 1872." Perfection.

We meandered through the downtown which includes the typical general store and dance hall. Some other memorable stops were Gruene with Envy Spirited Apparel, Cactus Jack's European Antiques, Fickle Pickle's Antiques and Pickles, Pookie Jane's Unique Boutique, and of course the Tipsy Gypsy.

We had lunch at The Gristmill, a lovely place nestled along side of the Gruene River. The sun was out, a cool breeze sauntered through the porch, the food was delicious, and the view of the river was calming and peaceful....the out of this world onion rings were just icing on the cake.

The rest of our day was spent Christmas shopping for our dear family. What fun to wander around the shops, hand in hand, enjoying an afternoon coffee, and finding little treasures for our loved ones. Life is sweet.
