...from our little casa, is a lovely street called Frankfort Avenue. This scenic byway features restaurants, bookstores, vintage shops, and all kinds of delights from live music at the local coffeeshop/wine bar to culinary adventures from across the globe.
An ideal Saturday morning in the Brack home involves taking Shiner for a lengthy stroll down Frankfort.
Sometimes we share a bagel at Nancy's. I never would have guessed that blueberry cream cheese on a cinnamon raisin bagel could be so very very heavenly. Mmmm.
While healthy and quite delicious, poor Nancy's bagels cannot compete with the fresh beignets from J. Gumbos which is unfortunatley located right. next. door. They come in fours.
Seriously those things are fantastic, a long walk is definitely required post consumption but it is more than worth it. Especially when that long walk is with your hunny and pup down Frankfort Ave.
Our walk usually takes us past Sol Azteca where we remember that we need to hit up margarita Monday. Thanks to today's Groupon we have the perfect excuse to go.
It is always nice to know that the fire department is right around the corner. This particular location has a friendly pup that welcomes passerbyers.
Nothing like long standing local businesses to instill a love of community. I hope I get to meet Oscar someday.
Frankfort Ave even has painted horses. I mean what more could you want. Beignets? Painted horses? We have learned that painted horses, or simply horses, are a necessity that is vital to daily life...at least in Kentucky. Shiner might disagree.
Probably my favorite thing about living by Frankfort Avenue is the Crescent Hill Branch of the Louisville Free Public Library. We can WALK to it. The amount of happiness walking on foot and carrying my library books to and from the library is a little absurd. On occasion I might have to stop myself from skipping the whole way.
Oh, and Shiner likes to pretend she is a lion from the NY Public Library every time we go. She could seriously give Patience and Fortitude a run for their money.
One of our favorite haunts on Frankfort Ave is El Mundo. We might have gone just last night for the $4 Rita special and to share a chicken burrito. Yes, we like to share food. It is both good for your health and economical. You should try it.
Nothing better than a burrito and margarita to celebrate yesterday's news that I passed my final exam, the only thing standing between me and my masters degree. Bring on that diploma baby.

You can get seated in the back of the restaurant for service at your table or you can order from the bar and sit by the front window or outside. We prefer the latter. Especially when you just ran 3.5 miles and might be a little stinky.
Suffice it to say, we love where we live. We are so thankful for our cozy and affordable apartment in the perfect location. We are making sweet memories these days and while we are busy and often tired or a little stressed due to the many responsibilities and activities each day brings, we are happy. Most especially on Saturday mornings.

I love walking down Frankfort Ave with you all! It is a wonderful place!
