The highlight of the event was a question and answer time. This time gave us the opportunity to see how he embodies a fabulous combination of brilliance and comedy. The questions covered his favorite work, the most influential person in his life, the state of comedy today (his answer: television is excelling in the comedic arts while movies are failing miserably due to the high cost of making them...expensive movies=high anxiety, pressures, deadlines, etc. which all greatly inhibit creativity), etc. The last question was posed by a young boy who asked him if he would please sign his killer bunny slippers, what a perfect ending to a most unusual evening:)

"He who laughs most, learns best"
Josh and I love living at Trinity, there are so many opportunities to attend exciting events. This year we have increased our cultural and global awareness through the lectures of Greg Mortenson, Tony Blair, Charles Krauthammer, and last night, the delightful John Cleese.
The lecture was quite thought provoking and focused on creativity and how modern society is so good at suppressing it. His main point was that in order to be creative we should spend more time playing, day dreaming, and enjoying life rather than being consumed with anxiety about deadlines, projects, perfection, various pressures, etc. Good things to ponder...
