I also love fall, it is my very favorite time of year. Ever since my days there, I have dearly missed fall at William and Mary. The colors change, the crisp breezes set in, I can see my breath during early morning runs through Colonial Williamsburg, lots of time spent with friends strolling through market square with a toasty beverage (cafe au lait, hot chocolate, or maybe even the decadent hot apple pie cider from Aromas), and many more happy memories. For now I am content to dream about the day I can take my true love of a husband to experience the delights of autumn in Williamsburg.
Josh and I are happy to celebrate the arrival of autumn here in San Antonio. Magically, the temperatures drastically dropped as much needed rains flooded our fair city last week. Josh took me to Starbucks on the first day of fall for a hot cocoa date. It was even cool enough to sit outside to sip our drinks without sweating! Miracle of miracles! Afterward, he bought me a travel mug so I can start bringing warm drinks to work in the morning...I love him:)
In St. A news.....
Sophomore Sam is NOT enjoying the advent of autumn. He came running into the library to check his reflection in the library glass doors after being forced to walk outside in the rain to morning chapel, he was horrified at the irreparable damage his hair had endured. Poor fellow.
Today a student came into the library asking if I knew any famous Army men from the 1920's. I asked him what exactly he was researching. He said he needed to research army people from the 1920's, people from "that war." After much questioning I deduced that he was trying to start an English project about a major american author.......?!?!?! He looked through a list I had and immediately honed in on Alice Walker.
I was intrigued at his choice and said, "Oh have you heard of her?"
He was completely serious in his reply, "No, I picked it because it makes me think of that Texas Walker Ranger guy. And he's cool."
.....seriously? is this real life?...........
I later overheard another conversation regarding the same project. It went something like this.
Student 1, "I picked Oliver Wendell Holmes."
Student 2, "Duude, yeahhh, a homie...good choice."
"Homie"

bahahahahahahahaha!!! keep those student stories coming--what a treat!
