This past weekend I flew to DC to help my friend Michelle throw a baby shower for our dear friend Mary Love and her soon to be born baby girl, Amelia Caroline. The shower was a culmination of months of planning, prayer, and preparations. Everything came together for a lovely party and Michelle and I were quite pleased with ourselves:)
We had a delicious array of tasty treats including a fabulous pineapple mocktail garnished with fresh raspberries. Mmmmmmm
We played two games, the first was a game where players had to guess the circumference of Mary's tummy. Everyone over-estimated! Mary is the most adorable and dainty pregnant woman ever! The second was a madlib game which told the story of Mary's delivery. Hilarity ensued as our guests were extremely creative in their word choice. Various stories had Mary going to Big Lots or Walmart in a garbage truck to deliver her baby under the oversight of a fireman or lawyer. Mary's sister's story ended up having a phrase that went something like this, "Baby Amelia was beautiful, she had her mother's elbows and her father's boobs."
There were presents galore...baby Love now has a closet full of adorable clothes, lots of warm pretty blankets, a delightful collection of popular children's books, and all of the various and sundry baby accoutrements she needs. She is sure to live a happy, warm, well read, and very fashionable existence.
For the past couple of months my mom and I have been working on a quilt for Amelia and it was very fun to finally present our creation to Mary. It was made with much love, care, hope, excitement, and prayers.
There was even a gift for James. Mary's sister LeeAnne gave James a diaper changing tool box full of diapers, wipes, rubber gloves, goggles, face masks, and even a how to guide. Here is he preparing for his new responsibilities as the lucky father of baby Love.
We love you Mary!! We hope you had a wonderful time at your shower!!!!
P.S. Amelia: please arrive on your due date...so I can win the Small Group Baby Pool :)

Amanda, thank you so much for hosting such a wonderful shower! It truly was such a special time. And, I LOVE the quilt you made. It is absolutely beautiful, and I can't wait to be able to use it with Amelia, and tell her that my very dear friend Amanda made it:)
