Chalk it UP

Life for the Bracks has been very busy lately. The weather has matched our craziness, constant changes day to day...rainy and cold, dry and hot, mostly rainy and hot. My days and evenings have been spent planning for CE, Redeemer Christmas Party meetings, Bible Study, Community Group, late afternoons at work, Grad School, caring for our casa, and more. I was able to have dinner with a dear friend last night and it was sweet relief to my tired heart. Our time was unhurried and relaxing. The shared friendship, good conversation, as well as the perfectly delicious and cool agua fresco, renewed and refreshed my spirits.

Life is full, often overwhelming, but at the end of the day we feel so blessed. Josh is so good at reminding me to be thankful. He has been even busier than me with ResLife Events, grad school applications, staff meetings, assisting with athletics, and caring for our Shiner. He recently hosted The Roommate Game, i.e. the newlywed game, at Trinity in my dad's red paisley smoking jacket. He was hilarious and wonderful, as always.

In the midst of our busyness, Josh found time to take me on a Saturday afternoon date downtown. It was a misty and cool day, which was fantastic after several days of downpour and muggy heat. We went to Chalk it Up, a big block party that brings in artists, high schools, and the community to create wonderful images with side walk chalk. I was amazed.

The following masterpiece was being created by some high school students. HIGH SCHOOL. We, along with the rest of the crowd, stood in awe and wonder.

Because San Antonio is such a bustling cultural mecca, we were able to walk right down the street and wander through this interesting spectacle.

We listened to some unique individuals jamming on their accordions, amazed by their accordion skills. It was strange, unusual, and delightful. I love San Antonio.

  1. Remember when we walked stumbled upon the chalk event last year while we were planning your reception?
Your one year is coming up!
