October Days

Last night we were delighted to welcome Josh's cousin Julia and her Italian love, Tony Cacciatore, for a visit while Julia was down in SA on business. We love them so much and every visit from them is full of fun. This time they brought the newest member to their little clan, Dolce the Schnoodle*. She is too adorable for words...seriously.

Shiner desperately wanted to be best friends with this timid little creature...look at those sad longing eyes...

But such a friendship was not going to be easy. Early on, Shiner's every move sent Dolce flying across the room into the safe arms of her dad.

But Shiner's patience and persistence prevailed. Over the course of the evening Dolce's courage grew as Shiner waited and waited, sometimes calmly. Dolce slowly crept closer and closer to the intimidatingly large, enthusiastically lunging, over-zealously friendly Shiner girl. They shared a few air sniffs from a distance, longing looks, and friendly noises across the room........

Until finally, their sweet noses met in the middle. Instantly they were best friends forever! Doggie smiles! Wags! Kisses! Puppy Love!

First up, a round of paw tag...Dolce would intermittently/randomly leap on Shiner's paw and then leap away before Shiner could get her...Shiner was lovingly slow and gentle in her response to Dolce's tags. She is the best.

The night was a complete success. After much rambunctious playing, some rest time, more playing, walking together, drinking water out of the same bowl, and boat loads of love, joy, kisses, and happiness, Shiner kindly offered her own comfy chair for Dolce to rest in. Our girl is the sweetest and most wonderful hostess and friend.
