July Fun

This past weekend our sweet friend Alyssa came for a visit. She had just moved from Amarillo to Nashville and was in need of familiar faces. Little did she know that Josh and I were in need of the same thing. What fun to spend the weekend in the company of a familiar friend, is there better comfort than that?

Despite the heat (upwards of 115 heat index), we ventured out for games of putt putt, shopping on Bardstown, and lots of driving around. Alyssa saw all the sites of Louisville from the comfort of our air conditioned car with a sonic happy hour drink in hand. We also filled the hot afternoons by watching Rango and The Adjustment Bureau. Neither movie was anything like we expected but we enjoyed both.

In our opinion, the best thing Louisville has going for it is the food. The city has some cool parks, an alright downtown, Churchill Downs, and a lot of fantastic restaurants which are Louisville's saving grace during the hot summer days.

So we ate and then ate some more. We had baked mac'n'cheese, fish tacos, and a bourbon burger at Lynn's Paradise Cafe, the fabulous everything muffin and decadent french toast at Wild Eggs, breakfast tacos and cheese grits at North End Cafe, and out of this world sushi at Maido. It was a weekend of culinary exploration and it was amazing. If you are not interesting in parks or horses, come to Louisville for the food.

I promise, you won't be disappointed!
