Feeding the Hungry...

College students that is. And boy are they hungry. We prepared a spaghetti dinner for 19 people last night, the seventeen college students on Josh's staff this year and our two selves. They rushed in, scarfed food, conversed/debated energetically, shoveled in some more garlic bread, took a brownie, and left in a whirlwind. Topics of conversation included multiple choice testing (is C a good default? why or why not?), how people who are 25 are "old", Twilight (either passionately loved or despised on moral grounds), costumes for the midnight viewing of Harry Potter, and much more delightful college chatter that took us back to the glory days. After dinner, my thoughtfully prepared buffet table (oh the joys of using wedding gifted serving ware for the first time!!) looked like the tazmanian devil ravished it, one of several indicators that they liked dinner, yay!

We meant to take more pictures of the event. But we are still learning how to fit that in to the madness of hosting seventeen fast paced students. Once they arrive, chaos reigns supreme. We are content to take babysteps in this process though. We did manage to document our kitchen, which took quite a beating after preparing three loaves of garlic bread, four boxes of pasta, four bags of pre-packaged ceasar salad (seriously, a life saver), vegetarian spaghetti sauce for three, italian sausage spaghetti sauce for sixteen, two gallons of sweet tea, and a batch of brownies....

It was all worth it though to love on these students and to show them that our home is open to them! We had a fun time and are excited to get to know them all this year!

  1. That is really sweet of y'all to serve dinner to all of them. That will mean so much to them and that y'all care about them. I hope you got help cleaning up afterwards. :)
