The other UT....

The past couple of weeks have been a bit crazy for us. We had been set in our future plans of moving to Louisville, Kentucky for Josh to pursue a Masters in Sports Administration. We found an apartment, contacted the church and RUF pastor there, started applying for jobs, and more.

We were very excited and felt totally at peace with it.

THEN two weeks ago, everything was turned on its head when Josh found out he had been accepted to a dual program at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. In the same amount of time as the Louisville program, Josh could get both an MBA and a Masters in Sport's Management.

Whaaat?

Knoxville was a great opportunity, but what about our apartment in Louisville? What about the associate pastor's wife, Becky, whose emails and calls were so encouraging? What about the farmers market that was walking distance from our new apartment where you could supposedly buy the most delicious omelets in the world?! What about the local dog park and wearing a big hat to next year's Kentucky Derby?

In my confused state, I called our friend Mary Alice whose family moved to Knoxville from SA last fall. Her excitement at the prospect of us moving there was contagious. Mary Alice and her husband Josh had been great encouragers and mentors to us while we were dating. We love them. It would be amazing to be near them again.

Oh what to do, what to do? We decided Josh would have to go visit the campus, meet the professors, and get to know the city before we could make a final decision.

He flew out last Sunday and stayed with our friends Bryan and Carri who also moved to Knoxville from SA, via New York, two years ago. Bryan and Carri were amazing, they showed Josh around and helped familiarize him with the city. What a blessing.

He loved the campus, the programs, the professors, the church, and the city. Wow.

It took some re-adjustment, but it was clear that the Lord's hand was preparing a place for us in Knoxville. He was taking care of the details to allow us to be even more at peace with the option of Knoxville than we were about Louisville, which is saying ALOT. His provision of friends, a great program, and recently an apartment has been reassuring and so exciting.

What a blessing to see the Lord's faithfulness in BOTH places, even though Knoxville is ultimately the right choice. This morning I got an email from Becky in Louisville. She went to UT for her undergrad, small world huh? She had nothing but wonderful things to say about Knoxville, the church there, and the University. How awesome to see how the Lord is continuing to confirm the change in plans, in wonderful ways.

We are 99% sure we found an apartment. It is the coolest ever so I will post about it once it is 100% sure:)

  1. AMANDA!! I'm so excited that you and Josh have a definite destination to move to! And, I'm excited to come and visit! Everything sounds so great - Josh being able to do the dual program, having friends there already, finding a church, being able to take Shiner. God is so good!
