Josh's cousins, Aaron and Mandi, flew in last weekend from Dallas to go to the Kentucky Derby with us. We had a great weekend full of hats, fascinators, mint juleps, and much more.
Here are the highlights.
Louisville boutiques are bursting with hats of all shapes and sizes. I fell in love with this blue feathery fascinator that perfectly matched a dress I already had. I wish we had a lot more excuses to adorn our heads with these dainty concoctions of ribbon and tulle.
We made mint juleps to start the days adventures but a mimosa was more to my taste.
We arrived and Mandi read up on all the horses.
We placed a few bets, drank lots of Juleps,
found Waldo
and the largest mullet in Kentucky,
and shared Derby Infield fun with about 120,000 other people.
Celebrating with so many others was an experience to remember, drunken ladies in sky high heels, dresses, floppy hats and gents in seersucker suits was the strangest combination.
Despite the chaos of the day, or perhaps because of it, we had a wonderful time.
