Last weekend, we flew to San Antonio to celebrate my papa's retirement from the military. The retirement ceremony took place on Friday afternoon and it was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on all my dad has done to serve his patients, his coworkers, the Air Force, the U.S. Military, and our Country. I am in awe of his achievements and I continually find it an honor and privilege to be his daughter.
My mama and I got to take part in the ceremony too, we each got a special plaque thanking us for our contributions to the Air Force through our love and support for my dad. He also gave us each a beautiful bouquet of roses, red for mom, white for me. So sweet!
After much pomp and circumstance, including many awards, official letters, and flags bestowed, my dad took the stage to reminisce over his career and thank all of us for our love and support. What a very special moment!
During the reception/after party, we had to get in some family shots of course.
We are so blessed with such loving and supportive family. One of my favorite parts of the whole weekend was the presence of Roger. He is my late Grandpa Briggs very best friend. He and his wife Barb have always been a second family. He came all the way from Idaho to be there for my dad. His presence was a priceless gift!
