Amarillo by Mornin'

We spent the last week and a half in Amarillo visiting Josh's parents and family. We had a wonderful and restful time, full of soccer, homework, sleeping in, and of course, Taco Villa.

One highlight of the trip was our date night at the Tascosa Drive-In Theater. The gates open at eight and the double feature starts at dark. We arrived around 8:45 and could have gotten in the gate for $10 if we had let them put a bumper sticker on our car...we I chose to pay six more bucks to get in bumper sticker free.

We found a great spot with a perfect view. The lot was packed, I guess on a Tuesday night in Amarillo there is not much else going on.

After the country tunes and the ads for concessions were over, the announcer's heavy old west Texan accent scratched through the radio and told everyone the movie wouldn't start,

"'til I hear me some loud honkin.'"

The whole place erupted in a chorus of enthusiastic honks and soon the first scenes of Karate Kid flickered onto the screen.

The movie ended a little after midnight. We had big plans to stay for the next one, but our sleepy heads just couldn't make it. As we were driving away, we could still hear strains of the announcer coming through the radio.

"Well now folks, I got me some good news and some bad news. I'll give ya the good news first. We done got ourselves another movie for ya, Prince of Persia will start in about fifteen minutes here now, yessir. Whoowee, it'l be a good one.... Now for the bad news,

I'm sorry to say, but I'm done clean outta nachos."
