Change of Plans

So, last week we got some news.

Big news.

Josh was offered an assistanceship in Residential Life at the University of Louisville. This would require Josh to work in a similar capacity to his job at Trinity, overseeing RA's in a dorm. AND it would provide a free place to live, free tuition, and a small stipend in exchange for ten hours of Josh's week.

Say whaat?!

As soon as I heard the news, my brain literally went into a tailspin. Yes, obviously it was a wonderful opportunity, but it meant a total change, yet again, in our plans.

No Daylight Building.

Boy did I boohoo, I mean, seriously. No stainless steel dishwasher? No brand new, shiny hardwood floors?

An even greater source of my tears was the fact that living on the campus at the University of Louisville, meant we would have to find a new home for our sweet, darling Shiner-girl.

Give her away? To a stranger?

Let the floodgates open, no gentle lady like tears here, it was the ugly cry, full force.

I love that dog more than a lot of things, definitely more than stainless steel dishwashers and hardwood floors, and that is saying something.

So my sweet husband held me, talked me through it, and then took me shopping.

What a guy.

We went to a nice long lunch, wandered through J.Crew, and then watched the season premier of The Batchelorette on hulu.com. Is he the best or what?

We talked throughout the day and we both, despite the tears and Shiner problem, felt wonderfully overwhelmed by the Lord's continued provision for every single one of our needs.

We were going to Louisville, and we trusted that the Lord would provide for Shiner.

The allure of The Daylight Building quickly faded at the thought of no school loans and no rent or utility bills. I mean, wow. That is incredible. Instead of draining our savings and going into major debt, we would be able to continue to add to our savings.

That evening, Josh's parents told us that they couldn't let us give Shiner away and that they would keep her for us until we could get her back.

The floodgates re-opened, but thankfully this time, they were happy tears of sweet relief.

Since then, our excitement about Louisville has continued to build. We are daily reminded of the Lord's faithfulness to us. It was decided that the best thing for Shiner would be for her to live with my parents since she already is best friends with their dogs (She and Josh's parent's dog, Tinker Belle are not really on the best of terms).  We are so thankful for our wonderful family.

Despite the change of plans, everything is working out beautifully:)
