On Monday we drove to Memphis, only about seven hours away. We stayed in a great hotel downtown and Josh took me out for a fun Memphis night.
The roof of our historic Madison Hotel had beautiful views of the city.
After enjoying the views, off we went to the Peabody Hotel for shopping, drinks, and relaxing. Then we headed to Rendezvous for their famous ribs. Josh was extremely devastated to find out that his favorite Memphis destination is closed on Monday nights...so sad.
So we moved on to Blue City Cafe where we put some south in our mouth and had a fantastic dinner. I mean, if you start a meal with a cheese plate, you know it is going in the right direction.
Josh was appeased and I was in cheese heaven.
We ended the night at B.B. Kings Blue's Club on Beale's Street. We were both in total awe, the band was incredible!
Then after being entranced by those delicious tunes, we walked back to our hotel, in the summer rain...
Which unfortunately turned into a downpour with strong winds and lightening. So much so that our umbrella turned inside out about a block away from the Madison. Despite the threatening thunder, it was a hilariously ridiculous situation. I still laugh about it.
Josh, because he is just that great, took my drenched self to the hotel restaurant to finish of the night in style. I had a wonderful drink called, The Madison, and we shared a piece of molten chocolate lava cake. The Madison tasted like orange creamsicle heaven and the thought of that chocolate cake will definitely take us back to Memphis in the near future.
We can't wait!
I LOVE Memphis. I'm hoping that I'll have some time to go visit the Fletchers between my move and the wedding! I'm also hoping for some snow!
